Should I give my new mom cat a vitamin suppliment, or is she okay without it?
She gave birth yesterday. (By the way, thanks for the great answers, the cats are getting along fine since the Mom cat gave birth.)
I wouldn’t give vitamins as it will be passed through the milk to the kittens, as long as she eats plenty of the right cat food she will be fine,nursing cats usually have a bigger appetite as they need extra to help with milk production.(If she ate the after birth, she would have also had a lot of good vitamins).
Once the kittens start eating and no longer drink from her, it is a good idea to add some vitamins to any cat’s diet, even the kittens. You should get a nutritionally sound multivitamin formula. Dogs and cats need different levels of vitamins, so it is best to get a multi vitamin for cats that will give the daily requirements to keep you cat healthy and strong.
